  1. BOOKS~Research shows that the top two indicators for how well a child does on a standardized test are how many meals are eaten around the family table and how many hours they are read aloud to as a child. Not silent reading. READING. ALOUD. This should be on the top of your list. Go to the library. Fill a bag with books and bring them home and read, read, read. This is FREE!
  2. ABC’S~Sing the Alphabet. Write the alphabet. Point out the letters on your cereal box, on the billboards as your driving. Rhyme with them. This is FREE!
  3. 123’s~Count with them! Count gummy bears, count blocks, count chairs. Keep going higher and higher. Their number awareness will grow and grow. Teach them adding with their snack of goldfish. This is FREE!
  4. OUTDOORS~Take a nature walk daily. Walk and talk about the world around you. You will be amazed at what you find and see! Take things home and make collections. Have your child draw a picture or glue together a picture of their findings. Exploring creation is the best classroom and YOU are the best teacher for your child at this age of their development. This is FREE!
  5. FRIENDS~Have friends over to play with and interact. Teach your child how to share, how to be a good host, and how to play nicely with their friends. This is FREE!
  6. PLAY~LET THEM PLAY. Discovery and pretend play is how a preschooler learns. Play dress-up, pretend kitchen, pretend tools. Play, play, play. This is FREE!!
